CONGREGATIONAL FELLOWSHIP

As a church family, we practice many traditions which help define who we are. Not surprising for Methodists, most involve sharing a meal.

  • In the past, we have sponsored community gospel music concerts.
  • Holy Week is observed with special services on Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunrise. Following the Easter Sunrise Service, we gather together for a special Easter Breakfast prepared by the United Methodist Men.
  • On a windy Sunday in April, we meet at a member's farm for a picnic, softball and kite flying.
  • A dinner after church in May honors the year's graduates.
  • In September, Rally Day honors our Sunday School teachers.
  • In the fall, the Harvest Festival Dinner is held, followed by a special service during which a "Special Thanks" offering is collected.
  • The Christmas season begins with the "Hanging of the Greens", followed by a soup supper.
  • On Christmas Eve, a special Candlelight Service is held to commemorate the birth of our Savior.
We have something for everyone all through the year, and we are always ready to add new ideas and adventures.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

  • The PASSION PLAY has been performed for many years during the Easter season.
  • Our LIVE NATIVITY was performed at the church for several years and has moved to the city park in order to spread the good news to all ages.
  • Through our RELAY FOR LIFE team, church members work together to raise money to support the search for a cure for cancer.
  • The MARBLE HILL COMMUNITY CHOIR rehearses and performs each year in our Sanctuary.
  • CHRISTMAS PAGEANTS have been performed by the children and the Choir.
  • The COMMUNITY SPONSORED YARD SALE is held each year in September. People set up tables and booths in our parking lot to sell their "yard sale" stuff!
  • Monthly NURSING HOME services are held at Elder Care in Marble Hill.
  • We support LOCAL MISSIONS such as the Food Pantry, East Missouri Action Agency, and Missouri Disaster Relief.
  • Our WORLDWIDE MISSIONS work includes contributions to the Rainbow Network, Habitat for Humanity, Heifer International, and the Mozambique Intiative
  • Organized PRAYER MEETINGS are held each Wednesday morning.
  • Open to all ages, our VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL is held each summer.
  • The United Methodist Men sponsor the local BOY SCOUT troop.
  • The church sponsors a local softball team, The CRUSADERS. In 2007, our team took the league championship, and their trophy is on display in Fellowship Hall.
  • In 2007, the church participated in Christmas in the Foothills by marching in the parade and entering a cart in the "Human Dog Sled" Race.
